No.2 seed Sinner extended a two-year indoor winning streak to 24 matches, and if he wins the title in the French capital, he will return to No.1 in the world rankings.
“It was a very tough match. At times against Ben you don’t have a lot of control because of his incredible serving, but today I felt like I was returning very well,” Sinner said.
“Also from the back of the court, I played very solid and also very aggressive, so I’m very happy about today’s match.”
Sinner was broken to love to slump to 3-1 in the second set, but quickly regrouped to race towards a victory that took little more than an hour to complete.
Sinner is the first Italian man to reach 43 ATP Tour semi-finals, breaking his tie with Fabio Fognini and Adriano Panatta. He is also the first Italian to reach the Paris Masters semi-finals.
