Porto have announced Thiago Silva will leave the club this summer, just a few months after his return.

The 41-year-old joined the club as a free agent from Fluminense in January, making 14 appearances across all competitions and helping Porto win the Primeira Liga title for the first time since 2021-22.

It was the 33rd trophy of the centre-back's career, while he also helped Porto reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they lost to Nottingham Forest.

Silva previously joined Porto in 2004 but did not make a first-team appearance, representing only the B team.

He told the club website: "The Porto fans will always be with me, and I hope to leave a mark on them too.

"I look back and see the incredible moments we lived through, and this title was for the Porto family, who so richly deserve it. The championship is back.

"I left my picture on the wall, and this will go down in history as one of the main titles of my career. It's not goodbye, it's see you later.

"These months tell me that everything was worth it. It was all incredible, an enormous pleasure. I lived moments of great happiness.

"Victories, defeats, suspense, nervousness, anxiety about whether we would win the title, especially after the defeat against Casa Pia.

"They were difficult situations, but the group always remained very strong and united and deserves all the best.

"The team deserves much more than it experienced this year."
