Davies signs new Spurs contract as Bissouma leaves on a free
Ben Davies was due to become a free agent this summer, but his stay with Tottenham will stretch to 13 years after he signed a new contract.
Tottenham have confirmed that Ben Davies has signed a new contract with the club, while Yves Bissouma is leaving as a free agent.
Davies joined Spurs from Swansea City in 2014 and will now extend his stay in north London into a 13th season, having made 363 appearances for the club to date.
Only 20 players have played more matches for Tottenham in their history, including Davies' former team-mates Heung-min Son, Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
Spurs did not confirm the length of Davies' new deal, but widespread reports on Wednesday said it was a one-year extension.
"Tottenham Hotspur really feels like home. It's been a huge part of my football journey and I'm grateful for what the club has given me so far in my career," Davies said.
"It's been difficult over the past few months, not being able to help the team on the pitch in some tough moments due to injury.
"So, I tried to help the boys off it as much as I could, being a voice in the dressing room and around the group, contributing in any way I could. My heart's on my sleeve for this club and I'll give everything for it."
Davies was limited to just three Premier League appearances in 2025-26, having made 17 in each of the previous two campaigns. He has played 245 league matches for Spurs overall, starting 199.
Davies helped Spurs end a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League last year, though they then endured a dismal 2025-26 campaign and only avoided relegation from the Premier League on the final day.
Davies was an unused substitute for that Europa League final victory over Manchester United, but there is no new deal for Bissouma, who played the full 90 minutes in the Bilbao showpiece.
Bissouma made 111 appearances for Spurs after arriving from Brighton in 2022, scoring two goals – both of which came in the Premier League in 2024-25.
Alongside Bissouma's departure, Spurs confirmed under-21 players Pele Arganese-McDermott, Tyrell Ashcroft, Leo Black, Dante Cassanova, Matthew Craig and Calum Logan would not be offered new contracts.
