West Ham claims warm-up win over Grasshoppers
West Ham United recorded a confidence-boosting 3-1 victory at Grasshoppers in Zurich as the two sides warmed up for their respective upcoming seasons with a friendly contest.
A piece of magic from England international Jarrod Bowen saw him jink into the box and tee up Andy Irving for the Hammers' opener on 13 minutes.
The score remained 1-0 in the visitors' favour at half-time, but Callum Marshall doubled the lead two minutes after the restart, firing home a fine strike from the edge of the box as the rain started to pour down.
Jonathan Asp Jensen gave Grasshoppers a glimmer of hope with a fine strike of his own in the 66th minute, sending a shot from the edge of the box past Wes Foderingham outstretched left hand and into the bottom corner.
But a penalty two minutes from time gave Lucas Paqueta the opportunity to make it 3-1 to the Hammers, and he didn't pass it up, easily converting to seal a solid win and hit-out for Graham Potter's Premier League side.
