Goalkeeper Benitez swaps PSV for Palace
Crystal Palace made its first signing of the summer transfer window, welcoming experienced goalkeeper Walter Benitez from PSV.
Benitez, who has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Selhurst Park, will provide competition for Dean Henderson and Remi Matthews for the number one spot.
The 32 year-old was an ever-present for PSV's league campaign last season as Peter Bosz's side clinched its 26th Eredivisie crown.
Benitez kept nine clean sheets in the top flight, conceding 39 goals and averaging a save percentage of 61.39 percent, slightly lower than Henderson (66.67 percent) in the Premier League.
The Argentine made 134 appearances for PSV across all competitions, conceding 152 goals and recording 43 clean sheets.
"Walter is an excellent addition to our squad, bringing further quality, experience and competition to our goalkeeping department," Palace chairman Steve Parish said.
"We look forward to welcoming Walter next month as we continue our preparations towards what promises to be a busy season, competing on multiple fronts, in 2025-26."
Benitez is Palace's first signing of the summer window as the Eagles prepare for their first campaign in European football after their FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.
