'We need players!' – Atletico boss Simeone demands transfer business
Diego Simeone wants to see action from Atletico Madrid in the transfer market, as he gave a clear message: "We need players!"
Atletico continued their impressive form by dispatching Mallorca 3-0 in LaLiga on Sunday.
Alexander Sorloth opened the scoring in the first half, though Atletico had to wait until the 75th minute for a David Lopez own goal to double their tally.
Substitute Thiago Almada, who has been linked with a transfer away from the club, made it 3-0 late on.
Atletico have allowed Javi Galan, Carlos Martin, Conor Gallagher and Giacomo Raspadori to leave over the last month, but are yet to bring in any players, and Simeone is growing frustrated.
He said: "Four players have left, and we haven't been able to replace them.
"We need players! We need to complete the squad.
"Watching us play, it's clear what's missing."
Speaking to Movistar+, Simeone added: "Surely in the coming days the new guys will arrive. We've already talked about it [with the club's leadership]."
One player who Atletico are determined to keep hold of is striker Julian Alvarez.
The forward is reportedly a target for some of Europe's elite clubs, although Alvarez has now gone eight games without a goal in all competitions.
Alvarez had two shots, but did not get either of them on target. However, he did create a team-leading three chances.
"Julian needs to feel how important he is to us," said Simeone.
"He's a decisive player for what we want. Now comes the decisive part of the season, and I have no doubt that the moment will come when Julian takes us where we want to go.
"We know where we can be."
