Ibrahima Konate will not fully believe he has sealed a move to Real Madrid until the first time he pulls on the famous jersey.
Konate left Liverpool at the end of last season at the expiration of his contract.
He has since joined Spanish giant Madrid on a free transfer.
The defender, who is in action with France at the World Cup, is so amazed to have completed his "dream" move, he still cannot quite believe it has really happened.
"Real Madrid is the biggest club in history," he said. "It's an exceptional club. And how do I experience it? It's a dream.
"But at the same time, it feels strange because, until you actually put on that shirt, I don't think you really grasp what it means."
Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and made 183 appearances for the Reds - the most by a French-born player in the club's history.
The 27 year-old is one of four new signings Madrid has made this summer, with Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries all joining Los Blancos.
