Dortmund and Lille play out friendly goalfest
Borussia Dortmund and Lille held nothing back as they played out a thrilling five-goal friendly, the Bundesliga side beating its Ligue 1 rival 3-2 as preparations for their respective seasons continued on Sunday (AEST).
Serhou Guirassay threatened very early for Dortmund before Pascal Gross found the back of the net in a goalmouth scramble as Lille failed to deal with a 13th minute corner.
Guirassay was on the scoresheet himself before the break, burying a penalty on 41 minutes as Dortmund went in at half-time two goals to the good.
But it was Lille that struck first after the restart, Hakon Haraldsson curling home a fine finish on 66 minutes to give his side hope.
Karim Adeyemi shattered that hope, though, racing through the middle of the park two minutes later before applying a cheeky dinked finish to score Dortmund's third.
Thomas Meunier did grab a second for Lille on 81 minutes, but it wasn't enough and Dortmund took the win to boost confidence ahead of a Bundesliga season in which it will hope to improve from last season.
