Wolves add Said after Trippier and Jimenez deals
Wolverhampton Wanderers has made winger Rafiki Said its third signing of the transfer window as it prepares for an EFL Championship promotion tilt, after the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.
Having finished bottom of the Premier League with just 20 points last season, Wolves have had a busy start to their off-season, replacing head coach Rob Edwards with former Porto defender Cesar Peixoto and signing high-profile free agents Trippier and Jimenez.
They have now completed a £7.7 million ($14.8 million) swoop for Said, who scored eight goals for Standard Liege as it finished eighth in the Belgian Pro League last season.
Said, who has won 16 caps for Comoros and scored eight goals, has penned a three-year deal at Molineux, which contains an option for a further 12 months.
Peixoto said: "He's a player with important characteristics for us – we have [Mateus] Mane and Rodrigo [Gomes], but we have to find solutions, to challenge each other, to improve the team.
"He's a fast player and one-versus-one running is a very important characteristic for us, but the most important thing for me is the team, and he's one player more to help us build a big family and team to fight to put Wolves back in the Premier League."
Wolves open their Championship campaign at home to Blackburn Rovers on 15 August (AEST), with games against local rivals Stoke City, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion – plus a trip to promotion favourite West Ham United – to come in their opening eight fixtures.
