Veteran midfielder commits to Wrexham
Wrexham announced that midfielder Matty James has re-signed with the club for a deal that puts him under contract through the 2027 season.
James, 34, signed an 18-month contract with Wrexham after being released by Bristol City in October 2024. He has since scored three goals in 61 appearances across all competitions, helping Wrexham earn its promotion in the Championship this season.
James has played in every game this season.
"I'm absolutely buzzing to sign a new contract. I want to say thank you to all the players, staff and fans for the support I've had since the first day I came here," James said.
"I'm looking forward to playing more football at this great Club."
A former England Under-19s international who has played for Manchester United, Leicester City and Bristol City, James has served as a captain for Wrexham. He also scored in the club's recent win at Derby County.
"It's great that Matty has signed another contract with the Club," manager Phil Parkinson said.
"I think it's very important as he's got real leadership qualities both on and off the pitch and I'm delighted that he's staying with us for another year."
