Nunez set-piece double helps Ipswich thrash QPR
A pair of braces from Marcelino Nunez and George Hirst propelled Ipswich Town up to ninth in the EFL Championship after cruising to a 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.
George Hirst's second-minute opener was quickly cancelled out by Rumarn Burrell, but two goals in 10 second-half minutes saw Kieran McKenna's team take control.
Nunez sent a stunning free-kick beyond Christian Walton before Hirst grabbed his second later. The Chilean midfielder was, however, not done there.
He repeated the trick with another goal from a set-piece in an almost identical position, although this strike did take a deflection on its way into the QPR net.
"Marcelino is a really good set-piece taker," McKenna said of his star man for the day.
"He practises a lot – as much as I've seen anyone practise – so he deserves his rewards.
"[It was] a good win for us, two brilliant team goals and two brilliant individual goals at a big moment."
