Eintracht is winless in its last three matches in the Bundesliga (D3 L1) and in the midst of a run of one victory in its last nine outings in all competitions.

Toppmoller was named Eintracht manager in June 2023, and last season, led the club to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, while finishing third in the Bundesliga to qualify for the Champions League.

However, this season, the club has won just seven of its 18 games, and has conceded 39 goals, with 10 of those coming in the last four matches. It has the joint-worst defensive record in the Bundesliga.

"Dino Toppmoller has always completely identified with Eintracht Frankfurt and worked with great passion every day for this club," board member for sport Markus Krosche said.

"We have high regard for his technical competence, his professionalism, his meticulous way of working and his human interaction with the team.

"Nevertheless, following intensive internal evaluation, we in the sporting management and collectively on the board have come to the conclusion that we need a fresh impetus due to the downward trend in recent weeks.

"So far this season, we have not lived up to the ethos of Eintracht Frankfurt, standing for dynamic, aggressive and compact football."

Toppmoller took charge of 190 games in all competitions, winning 80 of those (D58 L52) to leave the club with a 42.1 percent win rate.

His final game in charge was a 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen, the club's second result of that scoreline since the start of 2026 (also with Borussia Dortmund).

Under-21s boss Dennis Schmitt will take interim charge of the team, with Qarabag first up in the Champions League on Thursday, before Eintracht hosts high-flying Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga next weekend.
