Murray excited to feature in BMW Open
Andy Murray says he is looking forward to the prospect of featuring in the ATP BMW Open, which begins in Munich on Monday.
World number three Andy Murray is eagerly awaiting the start of the BMW Open on Monday.
The Scot, who has not played since marrying long-time partner Kim Sears a fortnight ago, is awaiting his first Tour victory of 2015 after falling to Novak Djokovic in both the Australian Open and Miami Masters finals.
The Murray family have enjoyed success at this ATP 250 clay-court event in the past, with Andy's brother Jamie lifting the men's doubles title alongside John Peers last year.
"I am really looking forward to playing in Munich next week," Andy Murray said.
"The 100th anniversary is very special and my brother has told me a lot already about the tournament and the family atmosphere.
"The main draw of the BMW Open is hard, I have to play my best tennis to reach the final here. I've heard a lot of the city, a very beautiful and clean city."
Tommy Haas, winner of this event in 2013, has yet to play this year after surgery on his right shoulder, but is set to make his comeback this week.
"I am pleased to finally be back on tour with us and it's great that the launch will be here in Munich before a home crowd," he said.
Another man to recently overcome injury is Florian Mayer, who was out of action for over a year with a groin problem.
The German, who lost out to Nikolay Davydenko in the 2011 final, has been given the last wildcard spot for this year's tournament and begins with a match against defending champion Martin Klizan.
"I am thrilled to be back on the tour and that I get through the wildcard the opportunity to play at the BMW Open," he said.
"Florian is a top player in Munich was already in the 2011 final. We are pleased to present him to the fans," added tournament director Patrik Kuhnen.
Other men likely to challenge for glory in Munich include 2007 and 2012 winner Philipp Kohlschreiber, world number 15 Gael Monfils and last year's runner-up Fabio Fognini.
