Australia's Tom Burton won the Laser one-person dinghy sailing gold medal at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday in a final postponed by high winds a day before.

Burton, with a total of 73 points, bagged the gold ahead of Croatia's Tonci Stipanovic with New Zealand's Sam Meech claiming Bronze.

Brazilian Robert Scheidt, vying to become the first sailor to win a medal at six different Olympics, finished off the podium in fourth.
