United States Presidents Cup captain Jay Haas selected Phil Mickelson and his son Bill Haas as his two captain's picks on Tuesday.

Mickelson will remain the only player to play in every Presidents Cup when USA face the International Team in South Korea next month

Veteran Mickelson did not enjoy his finest season on tour, but he brings unrivalled experience to a young squad.

"If anyone deserves a pick it's Phil Mickelson," Haas said via presidentscup.com. 

"The guys on the team trust him. Phil was an overwhelming choice to be a pick."

Bill - the younger Haas - who was 11th in the standings, seemed like an obvious pick with his dad as captain, but he was still nervous about making the team.

"I couldn't sleep last night I was so nervous about being a pick," he said. "I really wanted to be on this team" 

The International Team made its picks just before the USA Team, as captain Nick Price selected Steven Bowditch and Sangmoon Bae, who will be playing in his home country of South Korea.

Bae will be leaving the tour after the season is over to serve in the military for a mandatory two years, but Price and his assistant captains felt confident he will be allowed to play in the Presidents Cup.

The Presidents Cup begins on October 8 at Jack Nicklaus GC Korea in Incheon City, South Korea.

US Team: Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Matt Kuchar, Chris Kirk, Phil Mickelson and Bill Haas.

International Team: Jason Day, Louis Oosthuizen, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Branden Grace, Marc Leishman, Anirban Lahiri, Charl Schwartzel, Thongchai Jaidee, Danny Lee, Steven Bowditch and Sangmoon Bae.
