Newcastle vs PSG - Preview
Newcastle play their first home Champions League game in 20 years when they face French giants PSG
Newcastle come into their first home Champions League game in 20 years on the back of three straight wins including a victory over Man City in the Carabao Cup. PSG won their opening Champions League game and will offer a stern test at St James' Park. As ever, you will be able to watch the game exclusively with beIN SPORTS.
Newcastle have turned their fortunes around after a poor start to their campaign and are on a five game unbeaten streak in all competitions, including a record-breaking 8-0 win over Sheffield Utd at Bramall Lane.
Defensively, they are looking good too, keeping three clean sheets in a row after Eddie Howe admitted he was disappointed with their lack of organisation at the start of the season.
Newcastle picked up a well earned point in Milan last time out and despite being on the back foot throughout at the San Siro they could have pipped the points towards the end of that game.
The Newcastle medical team have had their fair share of bumps and bruises to deal with recently - some more significant than others - as Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock and Sven Botman are all set to miss Wednesday's glamour tie.
As for PSG, following a statement 4-0 win over Classique rivals Marseille, they surprisingly dropped points for the fourth time in seven Ligue 1 games this term, being held to a 0-0 draw by Clermont at the weekend. This inconsistency is a problem for the French side, but the Newcastle injury list will give them cause for celebration.
The vociferous St James' Park atmosphere during this momentous game will certainly play its part in intimidating the French champions, but despite the visitors' stretch of inconsistent form, keeping Mbappe and co quiet might be a step too far for Eddie Howe's side.
