Manchester United v RB Leipzig - How to Watch Online
After winning in Paris, Manchester United face a stern test against Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig
Manchester United will look to continue their fine start to their UEFA Champions League campaign at home to last season’s semi-finalists Leipzig on Wednesday.
It was an impressive victory for Manchester United against Paris Saint-Germain - a result that many did not expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to pull off in the French capital. The 2-1 win against the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe eased the pressure on the club and manager.
Three at the back proved successful for Manchester United on matchday one. It was was a far cry from their recent form in the Premier League, where they have looked defensively weak at times. Manchester United currently occupy 15th place in the Premier League with only five points from seven games.
Question marks over Solskjaer’s selection process and recent performances are never far away. Manchester United’s recent showing against Chelsea was anything but exciting. A drab goalless draw was hardly ideal at Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata going close for the hosts. If it were not for a controversial VAR decision involving Harry Maguire, Manchester United would probably have lost the game.
In team news, Solskjaer faces a significant issue on the front of the fixtures. Arsenal are next up in the Premier League on Sunday, and the Norwegian may have to balance his side with that in mind. Axel Tuanzebe performed brilliantly against Paris Saint-Germain and should retain his place. Paul Pogba will undoubtedly play a crucial part at Old Trafford and with crucial games coming up – we could see Donny van de Beek make an appearance at some point.
Manchester United starting lineup:
De Gea, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Pogba, Fernandes, Telles, Rashford, Martial Lindelof
Manchester United face a Leipzig side who also won on matchday one. Julian Nagelsmann side defeated Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0 with a double from Angelino.
Leipzig are in good form domestically too and lead the Bundesliga with 13 points from their opening five games. Currently unbeaten, Leipzig defeated the ten men of Hertha Berlin 2-1. A side with attacking intent, last season’s semi-finalists have brilliantly developed the likes of Dayot Upamecano, who remains one of the more upcoming and potentially out sought defenders in European football.
In team news, Julian Nagelsmann’s side has injury issues to deal with defenders Lukas Klostermann, and Marcel Hastenberg joined by midfielder Tyler Adams on the treatment table.
RB Leipzig starting lineup:
Gulacsi, Hemrichs. Konate, Upamecano, Angelino, Kampl, Olmo, Sabitzer, Nkunku, Poulsen, Hee-Chan
After Manchester United’s superb win against Paris Saint-Germain, the test now moves from the French leaders to the German leaders. Leipzig will arrive with plenty of confidence under the brilliant stewardship of their young and talented coach, Julian Nagelsmann. It will be up to Solskjaer and his team to put an end to that.
