RUMORS: Howard set to join Rapids in July
The Everton goalkeeper is reportedly poised to sign with the Colorado Rapids, with his salary around $2 million per year.
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is set to join the Colorado Rapids in July, according to ESPNFC.
Colorado general manager Tim Hinchey reportedly traveled to England last week to finalize the deal, which will see Everton receive a transfer fee of $600,000 to $750,000. Howard's salary will be around $2 million per year.
The Rapids have been a reported destination for Howard since January, when Colorado acquired the top spot in the MLS allocation order — the mechanism through which the former MetroStars goalkeeper would need to re-enter the league.
Howard, who turns 37 on March 6, recently lost his starting job at Everton to Joel Robles. The Rapids' project starter is 24-year-old Zac MacMath, who Colorado permanently acquired this past offseason after the player spent 2015 with the club while on loan from the Philadelphia Union.
