The summer so far…

A mixed bag for the reigning Premier League champions. Experienced campaigners Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gündogan have moved on. Gündogan in particular was vital in getting City over the line last season, scoring a number of crucial goals in the Premier League title run-in. With a depth of attacking talent at his disposal, Pep Guardiola will hope that Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva step up to cover for their absence. Elsewhere, and City has strengthened defensively with two Croatian additions. Midfielder Mateo Kovačić was picked up in a cut-price deal from Chelsea and Joško Gvardiol was signed for a much greater fee from RB Leipzig. It will be interesting to see how Pep utilizes his new faces as he masterminds yet another season of success.

Player to watch…

Who else but Erling Haaland. The big Norwegian striker had a dream debut campaign in the Premier League notching 36 goals in 35 appearances. With the departure of Gündogan, City are missing some leadership. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Leeds-born striker stepped up and further cemented his legend at Man City.

Kit Watch

Manchester City have gone all Tokyo drift with their third kit this season. We like it. 4/5.

Predicted Finish – 1^st

The show goes on for Manchester City. Despite some key departures, Pep Guardiola will go again and win the Premier League at a canter. Having won all of the trophies last season, it will be interesting to see how the Catalan coach motivates his team to go again. Expect a repeat of his “Happy Flowers” outburst like he did after defeat to Tottenham last season.
