PGMOL confirm Tottenham vs Liverpool VAR officials to step down for remainder of matchday seven
The PGMOL has confirmed that officials, who controversially incorrectly flagged Luis Diaz offside in last night's Tottenham vs Liverpool have stepped down for the remaining two games of the round. In a brief statement the organisation explained that both Darren England and Dan Cook will not be featuring in Nottingham Forest v Brentford and Fulham v Chelsea games.
"PGMOL can confirm the following match official appointment changes for the remaining fixtures in matchround 7 in the Premier League.
Darren England, VAR on the Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool fixture, and Dan Cook, AVAR on the same game, have been replaced for the Nottingham Forest v Brentford and Fulham v Chelsea matches today and tomorrow night respectively."
"Craig Pawson will now assume England’s duties as fourth official at the City Ground while Eddie Smart will take over from Cook as assistant referee at Craven Cottage."
The move comes as beIN SPORTS flagged the offside error on Saturday evening in which VAR officials incorrectly flagged Colombian attacker Luis Diaz offside. The PGMOL quickly released a statement admitting the mistake and confirmed that they would be investigating the error in greater detail.
