Arsene Wenger has had his say on rookie managers Frank Lampard and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in an exclusive interview with beIN SPORTS. The former Arsenal knows a thing or two about the demands of managing in the Premier League and had plenty to say on both coaches and how they could perform this season.

Speaking of Chelsea’s choice of former midfielder Lampard, Wenger who was in charge of Arsenal for 22-years was impressed by the move. 

“It was a bold commitment from Chelsea, I personally support the decision.”

It seems that the timing and expectation were right for Lampard to take the top job at Stamford Bridge, and Wenger broadly agrees that providing he gets time to complete his education then the all-time leading goal scorer can be successful at Chelsea.

“He had an experience at Derby, he has learnt the job. He has arrived inside the club where the expectation level at Chelsea is not so big, the pressure is not so big.”

“They cannot buy and they lost one of their big players. That might buy him some time to finish his education, I think he has the potential to be a manager.”

Wenger also had his say on Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was quick to admit that their youthful summer signings could help the Red Devils this season.

“When you see Man United, there is a potential there.”

Although, Wenger did also highlight the individual nature of the squad and the mentality of the players questioning if they can represent Manchester United.

“They have not found a collective way maybe because all these players are not mature enough to carry the team-play of a team like Man United all together, which is a question mark now.”

Summer signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have started life at Old Trafford well, but Wenger believes they are not ready to emulate the Class of 92, who brought an era of prosperity to the Red Devils.

“You feel that something is coming out, but it is not ready. When you watch them play they are not candidates to fight for the Championship.”

“Will they be able to emulate what Giggs, Scholes and Beckham did over the years? Personally I am not convinced.”
