Messi Spurred On By Marcelo Elbow - Gullit
Ruud Gullit believes Lionel Messi was spurred on to score his injury-time winner in Sunday night's El Clasico after being elbowed by Marcelo.
Speaking in the beIN SPORTS studio, Gullit also believes Marcelo's elbow was intentional and issued the following warning to any potential player looking to do the same to Messi: "Don't make him angry!"
Marcel Desailly agreed that the elbow incident was a turning point in the game, saying: "Messi is a killer. He doesn't show it, everybody thinks he's sweet, he's fine but when he got that elbow, it's true, he decided today is not my day but I will show that something will happen."
Messi's strike was his 500th goal for Barcelona in all competitions and sends the Catalan giants top of the La Liga table on goal difference, although Real Madrid do have a game in hand.
