Real complete sweep of Barca to reclaim ACB crown
Real Madrid completed a series sweep of Barcelona to take back the Liga ACB title from their fierce rivals.
The Liga ACB title is back in the possession of Real Madrid after they completed a 3-0 sweep of Barcelona in the final on Wednesday with a nervy 90-85 victory.
This year's final play-off round marked the fourth in succession to be held between the two dominant forces in Spanish basketball.
Barca had won two of the previous three finals, including last year, but Real regained their crown in emphatic style this time around.
Having edged the opening match 78-72, Real were comfortable 100-80 winners in the second, and in this encounter in Barcelona, Pablo Laso's men had to stave off a superb fightback from the hosts.
Defeat was harsh on Barcelona's Ante Tomic, who netted 29 points in a losing cause, 10 more than any other man on the court, with Real's Jaycee Carroll the next highest scorer.
After the first quarter ended all-square at 17-17, Real looked to have taken a giant step towards victory by pulling 14 clear at half-time.
However, Barca came storming back, winning the third quarter 33-17 - at one stage netting 16 points without reply - to take a two-point advantage into the final period.
Real were reeling, but recovered their composure in the last quarter and Sergio Llull - scorer of 24 points in game two - netted a brace of free-throws in the final 10 seconds to take the game beyond Barca and see the title head back to the capital.
