Sneyd facing ban after being charged for McGuire tackle
Hull FC's Marc Sneyd faces a potential suspension after being charged with dangerous contact on Leeds Rhinos' Danny McGuire.
Marc Sneyd could be banned for up to five matches after being charged with dangerous contact during Hull FC's 32-20 Super League defeat to Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.
In the closing stages of the game at Headingley, Sneyd brought down Danny McGuire as the Leeds man made a break.
The tackle - which saw Sneyd yellow-carded - left McGuire with a suspected broken ankle, while the Rhinos man was also sin-binned for kicking out in retaliation.
On Monday, the Rugby Football League announced that Sneyd had been charged with a Grade D offence and could be hit with a suspension of three to five games.
The dangerous contact rule relates to any player who "uses any part of his body forcefully to twist, bend or otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury to that player."
Elsewhere, Huddersfield Giants' Brett Ferres has been charged with a Grade C offence for punching Widnes Vikings' Rhys Hanbury and could be banned for two to three matches.
England international Ferres was sent off in the 12th minute of the fixture, but the Giants made light of their man advantage to go on and win the game 30-22.
