Pumas-America to meet as Liga MX semifinals set
The capital rivals will play each other over two legs for a ticket to the Liga MX Apertura final.
There will be a capital clash in the semifinals of the Liga MX with Pumas and Club America set to meet in one of the two-legged series for the right to play for the championship.
Liga MX reseeds after each round, and No. 1 seed Pumas moved on by virtue of its position atop the table after a 1-1 aggregate series with Veracruz. Pumas will face Club America, which entered the playoffs as the No. 6 seed but topped Leon 4-1 in the first leg and moved on despite falling 2-1 in the second.
Toluca's victory Sunday made the aggregate mark 3-2 over Puebla, and the No. 2 seed will face No. 5 seed Tigres. Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti's men saw off Chiapas 2-1 in the first leg and won Saturday's second leg, 1-0.
The league will announce times and dates for each match Monday, but one first leg will take place Dec. 2 with the other Dec. 3 before Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 second legs.
