Pereira holds off Beck to lift Brasil Tennis Cup
Teliana Pereira lifted her second WTA Tour title with a hard-fought victory over Annika Beck in the final of the Brasil Tennis Cup.
Annika Beck's bid for double glory at the Brasil Tennis Cup was ended by Teliana Pereira, who triumphed 6-4 4-6 6-1 in the singles final on Saturday.
Just 24 hours earlier, Beck prevailed in the women's doubles alongside compatriot Laura Siegemund, but she could not make it a clean sweep at the WTA International clay-court event.
Instead, it was Pereira who lifted her second WTA Tour title, four months on from her maiden victory at the Copa Colsanitas in April.
The fourth seed took a 5-2 lead in the opening set, but Beck fought hard, winning the next two games to get back on serve.
Pereira was not to be deterred, however, and broke straight back to take the set.
Beck's early break in the second was cancelled out three games later, but the world number 68 managed another in game nine and, after wasting three set-points, eventually served out to level.
The final set, however, was dominated by Pereira, who broke her opponent twice on her way to winning five straight games as Beck had no answer.
