Match Report
Germany came back from the brink of a humiliating World Cup exit as Toni Kroos scored a sensational stoppage-time winner to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sweden.
Kroos found the net with a wickedly curling set-piece in the 95th minute of a game that brought out the best and worst of Joachim Low's world champions, who were reduced to 10 men when Jerome Boateng was sent off with eight minutes remaining.
It capped a dramatic turnaround in a match that Germany could not lose after Die Mannschaft were defeated in their opening Group F game to Mexico, but such a scenario was on the cards when Ola Toivonen's superb lob gave Sweden a lead they held until half-time.
But Low's team-talk at the break obviously struck a chord with the world champions, who levelled early in the second half through Marco Reus' scrappy effort.
Boateng's dismissal threatened to unravel their efforts to get back into the match and it looked as though they would have to settle for a point that would have left their hopes of progressing from the group hanging in the balance, but, with the clock winding down, Kroos' stunner sparked jubilant German celebrations and simultaneously broke Swedish hearts.
The result leaves Group F wide open with no team yet mathematically through. Mexico lead the way on six points, while Germany and Sweden are on three, and South Korea still on zero.

Preview
Germany will be looking for a big reaction when they face off against Sweden in Sochi. Considered by many as favourites to retain the World Cup, Die Mannschaft looked shambolic at times in their 1-0 defeat to Mexico in Moscow. Now, the pressure is on Jogie Low’s side who need all three points to ensure that they won’t be eliminated at the group stage for the first time in their history.
Understandably the reaction in Germany has been harsh on the defending World Champions, and now the sole focus of the side will be to get the victory to kick-start their campaign. However, it won’t be easy against a Swedish side who are more than happy to sit back and play defensively.
Germany is likely to see plenty of the ball and will be needing the creative flair of Mesut Özil to pick out Timo Werner in attack. Both players had quiet games by their high standards against Mexico and will have to do better if Germany is to come away with the vital three points.
Germany Predicted team
Neuer, Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector, Kroos, Gündogan, Müller, Özil, Draxler, Werner

Sweden will be in high spirits following their narrow 1-0 opening victory over South Korea. A penalty from Captain Andreas Granqvist was the difference maker in a dour game between the two sides. Although Sweden did edge their opponents in terms of possession and shots on target.
Janne Andersson is unlikely to change around a winning team and will stick with the 4-4-2 formation that served him so well in qualification. Sweden has form in keeping it tight against top teams, indeed they edged out Italy 1-0 over two legs to book their place in the 2018 tournament and expect more of the same against the Germans.
Emil Forsberg could be a key man for Blågult against Germany. The 26-year old plays his club football in Germany with RB Leipzig and will know plenty of the Germany squad. Despite no members of the Swedish side ever going to a World Cup before, the Swedes have experienced players all over the pitch who will be relishing the prospect of frustrating the World Champions.
Sweden Predicted Team
Olsen, Lustig, Granqvist, Lindelof, Augustinsson, Claesson, Larsson, Ekdal, Forsberg, Berg, Toivonen
It promises to be interesting as Germany, who are in desperate need of a victory take on a Swedish side who are determined to frustrate them. Watch the Live & Exclusive stream of the game on MAX HD3 & beIN SPORTS CONNECT.
