Green outlines, Super Bowl, Hall of Fame ambitions after extension
After committing himself to the Cincinnati Bengals for the long-term, A.J. Green now wants to add a Super Bowl to his list of achievements.
A.J. Green has underlined his Super Bowl and Hall of Fame aspirations after signing a contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The wide receiver penned an extension reportedly worth $60million over four years on Friday. Including the remaining year on his original rookie contract, Green's total deal is now worth $70m over five years.
Green has 4,874 yards receiving and 35 touchdowns in four seasons with the Bengals and has been part of a resurgence that has seen Cincinnati make the playoffs four years in a row.
Speaking to the Bengals' official website Green said: "I think this city represents who I am. I love it here. Very low key. It's not a big market. Doesn't want to be a big market. That's not who I am. I'm not a high-profile athlete.
"I just go out there and play my game and go home. That's representative of the Cincinnati Bengals. We fly under the radar.
"Just looking down the road, I want to win a Super Bowl. The guys who put on those [Hall of Fame] jackets, those guys win a Super Bowl. At least one. And they've been with a team their whole career.
"And that's what I'm trying to get. I'm so blessed and honoured that the Bengals chose to keep me around for five years."
Green's deal is the latest in a week of lucrative new contracts, with Marcell Dareus of the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly all earning extensions.
