Swiatek booked her spot in the next round in only 65 minutes, with a hard-fought hold in game four of the opening set the only game Cocciaretto took off the Pole.
The fourth seed only gave up five points on her own serve throughout the first set, and she was not truly tested in the second until the final game.
In fact, Cocciaretto won more points in that game (seven) than she had on Swiatek's serve all match up to that point (six), saving three match points then carving out three break-point opportunities.
But the Italian was unable to avoid the bagel, with Swiatek finally getting over the line at the fourth attempt.
Swiatek's next opponent, Osaka, got over the line even faster in her third-round match, dispatching Diana Shanider 6-1 6-2 in 54 minutes.
Swiatek boasts a 2-1 head-to-head record against Osaka, having saved a match point en route to a 7-6 (7-1) 1-6 7-5 win in their last meeting at the 2024 French Open.
