Ronaldo returns for crunch Napoli clash
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in the matchday squad for Wednesday's (AEDT) UEFA Champions League match away to Napoli.
Ronaldo missed last Sunday's 4-1 LaLiga win at Eibar due to what the club described as "muscular problems".
His return was expected after he took part in a recovery training session with the squad on Monday and he has now been named in the 22-man party for the trip to Naples.
Fellow forwards Gareth Bale and Alvaro Morata also return for the game in Italy after missing the Eibar victory through suspension.
Holder Madrid lead the last-16 tie 3-1 after the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu last month.
Raphael Varane and Fabio Coentrao are the club's only injured first-team players.
Napoli v Real Madrid in numbers
11 – Real Madrid is unbeaten in its last 11 UEFA Champions League matches, having won six and drawn five. If it avoids defeat against Napoli, it would be Madrid's longest run without defeat in the Champions League or formerly known European Cup.
4 – Napoli has been eliminated on each of the previous four occasions where it has lost the first leg of a last-16 tie in European competition. Only four sides have previously progressed when trying to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg.
523 – Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to score in his last five Champions League matches, which is a total of 523 minutes. Since scoring his first goal in 2007, only once has he gone more than five UCL games without a goal.
1 – Napoli has lost just one of its last 10 Champions League games, winning seven and drawing on two occasions. However, its one defeat came this season in a 3-2 loss to Besiktas.
6 – Six of Napoli's last nine Champions League goals have been scored (four) or assisted (two) by Dries Mertens.
