Neres and Milinkovic-Savic sidelined with injuries for Napoli
Napoli’s injury woes have worsened as Antonio Conte will be without David Neres and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic for their upcoming matches.
Napoli have confirmed that both David Neres and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic will be sidelined for their upcoming matches due to injury.
Neres has undergone ankle surgery in London, while goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic has a thigh strain keeping him out of action.
Antonio Conte has already dealt with plenty of injuries this season, with Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa and Amir Rrahmani among those missing out recently, while Romelu Lukaku recently returned from his thigh issue.
The Serie A holders lost 3-0 to Juventus on Sunday, leading them nine points off leaders Inter, while they will likely need to beat Chelsea in their final league phase match of the Champions League to reach the play-offs.
Conte's side have won just one of their last six games in all competitions, and losing two more key players will not help their title defence.
The club released a statement that read: "On Monday, David Neres underwent surgery on his left ankle in London. The operation was a complete success. The Napoli player will rest for a few days and will then start his rehabilitation programme.
"Vanja Milinkovic-Savic underwent medical exams at Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a strain of the biceps femoris in his left thigh. The keeper has already started his rehabilitation programme."
Following their clash with Chelsea, Napoli host strugglers Fiorentina in Serie A before a trip to Genoa.
