Milestone man Kane pilots Bayern thrashing
Harry Kane scored his 50th goal in the Champions League as Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over Atalanta secured a 10-2 aggregate victory in the last 16.
The England striker, who captained Bayern in the second leg at Allianz Arena, scored a brace before Lennart Karl and Luis Diaz booked a quarter-final clash against record Champions League winner Real Madrid.
Bayern was off to a fast start as Raphael Guerreiro was twice denied by Marco Sportiello, though the Italian goalkeeper made a costly mistake in the 25th minute.
After a penalty was awarded against Giorgio Scalvini for handball, Sportiello initially saved Kane's spot kick. However, the Atalanta goalkeeper was off his line before Kane's attempt from 12 yards, and the former Tottenham man made no mistake with his retake.
Jonas Urbig was called into action either side of half-time, saving shots from Mario Pasalic and Gianluca Scamacca, though Kane doubled Bayern's second-leg advantage as he fought off challenges from Isak Hien and Kamaldeen Sulemana before picking out the top-left corner.
That goal in the 54th minute seemed to open the floodgates, and Karl curled past Sportiello from Diaz's lay-off soon after, before the teenager returned the favour by playing the Colombian through on goal in the 70th minute for a dinked finish.
Atalanta managed to score a consolation through Lazar Samardzic as he headed in from close range, but it is a tie that La Dea will want to quickly forget.
