Kane one of world's best strikers: Pochettino
Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and will get the credit he deserves, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino lauded Harry Kane as one of the world's best after the forward's brace against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
Kane delivered once more for Spurs, scoring twice to help his side to a 3-1 victory in Group H at Wembley.
The England international has found some form with four goals in two games, and Pochettino praised the 24-year-old.
"Kane was fantastic," the Spurs coach said.
"You can see today, scoring goals in the Champions League. He receives the credit he deserves.
"For me he's one of the best strikers in the world. In the Champions League, the most important competition in the world, scoring will give him the credit he deserves."
Kane also set up Son Heung-min's opener, which was cancelled out by Andriy Yarmolenko in the first half.
Dortmund coach Peter Bosz also hailed Kane and said his team was more than aware of the forward's abilities beforehand.
"Obviously Harry Kane's a good player. Strong, really strong. You can see that with the second goal, where two of my players didn't win the duel with him," he said.
"We knew that before. He's a good player."
Pochettino also hailed his side's second half, realising that while Dortmund dominated possession for large parts of the game, Spurs showed the more ruthless streak in front of goal.
"It was so important to win, we are so happy," he added.
"It was so important to start well in a tough game. Dortmund played really well, they dominated the first half. We increased our level in the second half and we were very clinical in front of goal.
"It is more than three points. At half-time we fixed some problems and modified the position of some players. The tempo of the game decreased which was better for us. Dortmund are a very aggressive team, we struggled a little to pass the ball quickly.
"Sometimes you can't dominate, you have to play a different way and the team is more mature now. We can learn a lot from this game."
Tottenham travels to Cyprus in two weeks to play APOEL, and Pochettino is confident the performance against Dortmund will stand his side in good stead for the rest of its campaign.
