Fiorentina breaks transfer record to sign Atta
Fiorentina has smashed its transfer record by finalising a deal worth up to €40 million ($65.7 million) to sign Arthur Atta from Serie A rival Udinese.
Atta joined Udinese – initially on loan – from French side Metz in August 2024 and made 59 league appearances for the club, scoring five goals and assisting four.
The midfielder helped Udinese finish 10th in the Italian top flight last term.
Atta, who has been capped up to France Under-20 level, has now become the most expensive player in Fiorentina's history as it gears up for its first campaign with former Italy defender Fabio Grosso as head coach.
The Viola will reportedly pay an initial €30 million ($49.3 million) fee for the 23-year-old, with a further €10 million ($16.4 million) due in add-ons.
After confirming Atta's arrival on Sunday (AEST), Fiorentina also confirmed Bournemouth left-back Alex Jimenez was at its training ground to complete a medical ahead of a prospective loan deal.
Fiorentina has already enjoyed a busy period in the transfer market, with Radu Dragusin arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur alongside permanent deals for Marco Brescianini, Giovanni Fabbian and Viery Santos Lopes.
