Conte hits out at press over Italy job comments
Napoli head coach Antonio Conte has hit out at the media, reiterating his commitment to Napoli as he hit out at speculation linking him with taking charge of Italy's national team.
The Azzurri will require a new coach after Gennaro Gattuso's departure in the wake of their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Last week, Conte, who coached Italy between 2014 and 2016, seemed to suggest he would be open to returning to oversee the national team.
Yet after Napoli's 1-1 draw with Parma on Monday (AEST), Conte lashed out at the media, accusing reporters of "twisting" his comments.
"I did not say I was available for anything," Conte said on Italian radio.
"I have another year on my contract with Napoli, then at the end of the season I will speak to the president.
"I would urge you to interpret my words correctly, because if they are going to be twisted, then I won't speak at all anymore."
Napoli sits second in Serie A, but is nine points adrift of leader Inter Milan after the latest round of fixtures, with Inter coming back from two goals down to beat Como 4-3.
