Roma runs riot to close in on Champions League place
Roma thrashed Fiorentina 4-0 at Stadio Olimpico to move just one point behind Juventus in Serie A, as the Champions League race heats up.
Gianluca Mancini, Wesley and Mario Hermoso scored in a dominant first half before Niccolo Pisilli completed the job after the break, with Gian Piero Gasperini's side also moving three points behind third-placed AC Milan.
Shortly after Donyell Malen went close with a deflected effort, Mancini opened the scoring in the 13th minute, rising highest to head in from Pisilli's corner.
Roma was in no mood to rest on its one-goal lead as it was 3-0 by the 34th minute. Wesley scored Roma's second, curling into the bottom-right corner after a perfectly-weighted lay-off from Hermoso.
The Spaniard then got on the scoresheet himself, showing his striker's instinct to get across his marker and tap in from Manu Kone's centre into the six-yard box.
Fiorentina showed some threat after the break, hitting the woodwork through Riccardo Braschi, but Pisilli wrapped up the win just before the hour mark as he headed in off the post from Malen's trivela cross.
