Monza wins thriller after Mota scissors a stunner
Dany Mota produced one of the goals of the season as Monza claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Genoa in Serie A.
Mota put the visitors 2-0 up with a breathtaking scissor-kick finish after Matteo Pessina had scored the opener in the eighth minute.
But a resilient Genoa fought back well in the second half. A belated VAR check for handball handed Albert Gudmundsson the chance for the first of its goals, and while his spot-kick was saved, he buried the rebound easily. Vitinha then scored a beautiful equaliser with a curling left-foot strike on 68 minutes.
But the hosts couldn't find a winner, and nor could they hold out for a draw as Daniel Maldini scored the winner with just 11 minutes left on the clock.
Monza moved up to 10th on the Serie A standings with victory, while Genoa remains in 12th.
