Berardi double helps Sassuolo sink Verona
Goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Domenico Berardi just before half-time where the catalyst for Sassuolo's 3-0 victory over bottom of the table Hellas Verona.
Sassuolo kept their slim chances of playing in the UEFA Conference League next season alive as they defeated Hellas Verona 3-0.
Fabio Grosso's side ascended to the lead just before half-time when Armand Laurienté found striker Andrea Pinamonti for his 6th goal of the Serie A Campaign.
The hosts would make it two just four minutes later when Domenico Berardi was fouled inside the area by Cheikh Niasse. Berardi's penalty was saved by Lorenzo Montipò; however, the Verona goalkeeper couldn't stop Berardi's second effort.
Sassuolo's captain would complete his brace just after the hour mark, Laurienté with a stellar through ball that caught the Verona defence napping. With plenty still to do, Berardi kept his cool to beat Montipò once more and ensure all three points stayed in the Emilia-Romagna region.
For Hellas Verona, this defeat was their fourth in the last five and kept I Gialloblù rooted to the bottom of Serie A whilst Sassuolo moves into the top half of the table with the rest of the weekend to be played.
