Rangers thumps Aberdeen as title race stays hot
Hearts and Rangers were victorious at the top of the Scottish Premiership this weekend, with the pressure now on Celtic to match their results as the title race continues to twist and turn.
Rangers boss Danny Rohl says his side has "seven finals" remaining as it battles for glory, a quest helped by a 4-1 victory over Aberdeen.
Tochi Chukwuani, Mikey Moore, Nicolas Raskin and James Tavernier were on target at Ibrox as Rangers made it back-to-back wins to keep pace with surprise leader Hearts.
Derek McInnes's men had clinched a nervy 1-0 victory over Dundee earlier in the day, courtesy of Oisin McEntee's header, to pull six points clear at the summit.
But Rangers' own win means it is only three points behind Hearts, with a head-to-head fixture between the teams to come after the league splits after the international break.
Celtic is only two points back of Rangers and has a game in hand, away at Dundee United next up.
Asked to assess Rangers' chances ahead of the run-in, Rohl said: "The three points are fantastic. We performed well. We were the better team.
"My team did well. They handled the situation. If we perform like this, we have a big opportunity to win more games.
"There are seven finals to go, and if we perform again at this level, then it will be difficult to beat us, and we can win a lot of games.
"We hunt until the end, and if we do this like today, then we have a big, big opportunity as a club to achieve something."
Hearts boss McInnes does not expect his team to fold easily in the coming weeks, particularly after captain Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin returned from injury during a hard-fought win at Tynecastle.
"I actually think the belief that I've got in the team is even more than it's ever been, because I know what's coming behind it," McInnes said.
"We've been tested of late, but despite all that, we're going to be top of the league in April.
"We're huge underdogs, but for us still to be where we are, churning out victories, as we did again, there's a lot to be said for 1-0 victories."
Hearts' first game back after the international break is a trip to bottom club Livingston, while Rangers will host Dundee United.
