Moyes hoping to play part in Tottenham relegation
David Moyes has revealed he would love to keep his former side West Ham United in the Premier League on the final day of the season.
Moyes's Everton side faces Tottenham Hotspur on Monday (AEST), and if West Ham is to avoid relegation, it must defeat Leeds United while hoping Spurs lose to the Toffees.
Everton has won just one of its past 16 Premier League away games against Spurs, losing 11 of those, the past four by an aggregate score of 13-1.
However, Spurs are winless in their past 10 home league games, the second-longest run in Tottenham's league history after a 14-game streak between October 1993 and April 1994.
"I'd love to keep West Ham in the league if I can do," Moyes said.
"But it's more important I get Everton that top-half finish and we get a few more million pounds because of our league position."
Everton is 12th heading into the final, while a better finish could go towards signing Jack Grealish on a permanent deal.
Grealish has directly contributed to eight goals – two goals and six assists – in the Premier League for the Toffees after his loan spell from Manchester City, but has not featured since January after suffering an ankle injury.
"We’ve got a few plans in place. Finances will obviously play a big part in it so we will need to navigate round the best we can," Moyes said.
"Obviously we like Jack a lot. We’ve looked after Jack all the time since his injury. It’s looking in good order now, the surgeon speaks very well about it and thinks it’s healing greatly.
"Normally a player would go back to his parent club and be looked after from there, but we will continue doing our best for Jack.
"He is incredibly well liked inside and outside the building but ultimately he is not our player, he is Man City’s player.
"We’ve had hm on loan for a year and I have to say we’ve enjoyed having him."
