Croatia international Sosa signs for Palace
Crystal Palacce has bolstered its squad with the signing of Borna Sosa, a Croatia international defender.
The left-back has signed a three-year contract and is the Eagles’ second summer signing after goalkeeper Walter Benitez.
Sosa started his career with Dinamo Zagreb in his native Croatia before moving to Stuttgart in 2018.
During his five years at Stuttgart, the marauding defender provided 25 assists in 93 league matches and won 65.8 per cent of his tackles.
After one campaign with Ajax, and a loan spell with Torino last season, the Croatia international is ready to get his Premier League career under way.
“I'm very excited to join Crystal Palace,” Sosa said.
“I've heard so many good things about the club. I cannot wait to meet the players, the staff, and all of the fans, because I've heard so many good things. I'm very, very excited to be here.
“I think everybody agrees it is the best league in the world. With so many exciting and good games. I can’t wait to see the stadiums and experience the atmosphere. I’m excited.
“I'm curious about the speed of the game that everybody speaks about in the Premier League.
“I've also heard a lot of comparisons with the Bundesliga because it's a little bit similar [style of] football.
“I’m a player who likes to attack, to bring crosses, to make a lot of actions. I like games that go up and down, with lots of things going on.”
Palace won the FA Cup last season, but has been stripped of its place in the UEFA Europa League bceause of UEFA's rules against co-owned clubs competing in the same competition.
Lyon, which is also co-owned by no former club co-owner John Textor, won an appeal against its relegation to Ligue 2 for financial irregularities, and thus claimed back its place in the competiton after finishing in a higher league position.
Palace has been relegated to the UEFA Conference League, but is expected to appeal the decision.
