Kewell thinks Wirtz could be great for Liverpool
Former Australia and Liverpool ace Harry Kewell says signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen could give Liverpool's attack extra flair.
Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement with Leverkusen for the transfer of the German in a deal that could break the Premier League transfer record and keep him tied to the club unti 2030.
Wirtz has been a key figure in Leverkusen's recent success, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists across 45 matches last season as it finished second in the Bundesliga and reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.
In 2023-2024, Wirtz was the star of the show under former coach Xabi Alonso as Leverkusen claimed its first Bundesliga title in an undefeated season that also saw it claim the DFB-Pokal and a runners-up place in the UEFA Europa League.
Liverpool is believed to have agreed to a deal worth £116 million ($242.3 million), which would make him the most expensive transfer in the Premier League's history.
That record is currently held by Moises Caicedo, who moved to Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion for a reported total figure of £115 million ($237.2 million).
