The visitor took the lead in the opening stages as a Max Kilman error gifted Spurs with an opening that was finished off calmly by Wilson Odobert.

West Ham was the better side in the first half and found an equaliser as Aaron Wan-Bissaka threaded a pass through to Bowen, who made no mistake from close range.

The host side looked the likelier to find the breakthrough late on, with Guglielmo Vicario producing a wonderful stop to deny Bowen, while James Ward-Prowse curled a free-kick just wide in stoppage time.

Tottenham remains in 16th place, with West Ham a point and one position further down.
