New England Revolution captain Carles Gil says he still has "many more things to do for this club."

Gil joined the Revolution in 2019 and has gone on to make 216 MLS appearances for them, scoring 56 goals and providing 64 assists in the competition.

He has recorded the most assists of any New England player in MLS, while only Taylor Twellman has scored more often (111) or registered more direct goal involvements (133) for them than the Spaniard.

The Revolution are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference ahead of their match against Atlanta United this weekend, though they played out a goalless draw with Toronto FC in their first game after the World Cup break.

Gil is determined to keep improving for New England, who he believes can continue to climb up the table.

"I still feel I have many more things to do for this club, for this team every day," said Gil.

"Not just in terms of being an All-Star and these things, but every day I try to be the best I can in training.

"When I lose a small game or don't do well in training, I'm mad with myself. I continued to have the same spirit since I arrived here.

"This year is a good year because we are in a good place. I think we are doing good things, but I feel we can improve a lot.

"So, I still feel like I can do better and learn from everyone here."

Atlanta, meanwhile, are 14th in the East after failing to win any of their last five MLS games (D2 L3).

Since returning from the World Cup break, they have lost 1-0 to Nashville SC and drawn 2-2 with Charlotte FC.

Gil has 11 career goal contributions against Atlanta (five goals, six assists), the third-most in regular-season MLS play against the Five Stripes, behind Hany Mukhtar and Lucho Acosta (16 each).

New England have lost only one of the nine matches against Atlanta in which Gil contributed to at least one goal (W6 D2).

Atlanta United – Lucas Hoyos

Hoyos made seven saves against Charlotte (his most in an MLS match), to go with a tackle and a chance created.

Since Opta began detailed tracking of MLS in 2010, the only other player with at least seven saves, a tackle and a chance created in an MLS match was Andre Blake in 2024 against the Columbus Crew.

Atlanta are looking to snap a five-match road losing streak against New England after going unbeaten in their first three visits to Foxborough (W1 D2).

The only longer road losing streak against a single club in Atlanta’s history is their ongoing six-match run of defeats at Columbus.

Including Wednesday’s scoreless draw with Toronto, New England have conceded just nine goals in their last 11 regular-season matches dating back to the start of April, equalling Nashville SC for the fewest goals allowed in MLS over that time.

Atlanta rallied from a 2–0 half-time deficit to earn a 2–2 road draw against Charlotte in midweek.

It was the first time in all competitions that Atlanta had avoided defeat in a road match after trailing by multiple goals at the break (W0 D0 L21 prior to Wednesday).
