Bakayoko blue after Chelsea swoops
Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has completed his move to Premier League champion Chelsea, joining Antonio Rudiger at Stamford Bridge.
Premier League champion Chelsea has completed the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Ligue 1 champion Monaco.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who played a key role in Monaco’s charge to the Ligue 1 title and UEFA Champions League semi-finals last season, has signed a five year deal with Antonio Conte's team.
"I am very happy to be here and to join this great team. I have grown up watching Chelsea," Bakayoko said on the club's official website.
"Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood.
"I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team-mates."
Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo was delighted to welcome the French star into the Blues fold.
"Despite his young age he already has plenty of experience as a French title winner and having competed in the latter stages of the [UEFA] Champions League," Emealo said.
"We believe he will add considerable quality to our squad."
Bakayoko came through the Rennes academy in France, playing his senior debut in August 2013. He signed for Monaco in the summer of 2014 and made 63 appearances for the principality side during his three seasons there, scoring three goals.
