Bradford returns to League One with a win
Newly-promoted Bradford City claimed a victory in its first match in EFL League One in six years as it beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 on the opening weekend of the 2025-2026 season.
The Bantams, which went up on a dramatic last day of last season, flew out of the blocks, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes through promotion hero Antoni Sarcevic and then Bobby Pointon.
Wycombe was without last season's player of the year in Richard Kone as rumours of him leaving the club proved too much for him to be included in manager Mike Dodds's matchday squad.
But his side did improve after the break and Dan Udoh pulled a goal back midway through the second half.
It might have been even better for Wanderers late on, but Sam Walker pulled off a great save to thwart Bradley Fink and secure all three points for Bradford.
