Modric posts emotional Real Madrid farewell
Luka Modric insists his Real Madrid exit is not a goodbye but a "see you later", after playing his final game for Los Blancos.
The Croatia great is departing the LaLiga giant after its exit from the FIFA Club World Cup, a 4-0 rout at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain ending its participation last week.
Modric looks certain to join Serie A side AC Milan, with Massimiliano Allegri confirming the 39-year-old will join up with his Rossoneri team-mates in August.
Taking to social media, Modric posted to Los Blancos supporters, writing: "My home for 13 years. My forever home. This is not goodbye, this is see you later."
Modric departs Madrid having amassed 597 matches for Los Blancos, collecting 28 trophies in the process, more titles than any other player in the club's illustrious history.
Since he made the move to Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2012, Karim Benzema (515) is the only other player to have made more than 500 Los Blancos appearances.
Modric racked up 88 assists, a tally bettered by only Toni Kroos (93) and Benzema (118) during that time. He also created 842 goalscoring chances, with only Kroos (974) registering more.
