Laporta confirms Flick is set for Barcelona renewal
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick will renew his contract at the club, club president Joan Laporta said.
Flick joined Barca in 2024 and led it to a domestic treble last season.
The Blaugrana sit top of LaLiga with a four-point lead over Real Madrid, after their 5-2 win over Sevilla.
That victory came amid the club's presidential elections, with Laporta retaining his place in charge.
Laporta claimed the German is set to sign a contract extension.
"We want to renew his contract until 2028, giving him a year's grace period each year," he said. "He's in favour, and we’ll announce the agreement shortly because he's very happy here.
"Flick has contributed, while respecting our genuine style of football, the qualities of a disciplined person with extremely high standards.
"He's made the team function well again with the same players. He explains things clearly and addresses all questions.
"His sincerity in explaining the footballing model, his way of working, and his expressive gestures. He has a group discipline and footballing vision that the Barcelona fans accept.
"It would demonstrate stability and that we're winning. I think it's possible he'll stay with Barca for another five years. He's a young man, with a lot of energy, and he's happy in the city."
Flick, whose side takes on Newcastle United in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday, has won 78 of his 104 matches in charge of Barca.
