Atletico strikes late to to snap winless run
Atletico Madrid came from behind to defeat Athletic Club 3-2, courtesy of second-half goals from Antoine Griezmann and Alexander Sorloth.
The pair scored in the first 10 minutes of the second half, with Sorloth also netting in stoppage-time to secure Atleti's first league win since 15 March (AEST), ending a four-game losing run in LaLiga.
Athletic threatened early on, with Jan Oblak alert to deny Gorka Guruzeta, but the Atleti goalkeeper could do nothing to keep out Aitor Paredes's header from Inigo Ruíz de Galarreta's out-swinging corner in the 23rd minute.
The hosts had just one shot in the first half, but scored with its first attempt after the break as Griezmann swept in from Alex Baena's deflected cross to restore parity.
Sorloth then put Atleti ahead in the 54th minute, playing a give-and-go with Baena inside the box before slotting into the bottom-right corner to complete the quick turnaround.
The Norwegian then wrapped up the victory with a counter-attack in the 93rd minute after a long ball from Nahuel Molina, which rendered Guruzeta's header in the seventh minute of stoppage-time nothing but a consolation.
