Eriksen 'conscious' after second on-field collapse
Denmark's football association has reported that Christian Eriksen is "conscious and doing well” after collapsing during his nation's international friendly against Ukraine.
The veteran Wolfsburg midfielder, formerly of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, fell to the turf in the 65th minute of the friendly in Odense, sparking memories of a similar incident in 2021 when he also collapsed during a European championship match against Finland in Copenhagen.
In scenes similar to those of that 2021 incident, Eriksen was surrounded by concerned players from both sides as medical assistance rushed towards him.

Footage showed Eriksen clutching at the left side of his chest suddenly before the collapse. Many of his team-mates were in tears as the shock set in once again for the 34-year-old.

The match was later abandoned in the 79th minute after the referee spoke with both coaches, with Denmark leading 2-1.
After Eriksen's first collapse, he underwent surgery to fit an iImplantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), which is designed to restart the heart should it fail again.
"Christian is doing well and left the field himself. As I see it, the pacemaker is beating as it should, Denmark team physician Morten Boesen said after revealing Eriksen had been unconscious momentarily.
"[He] very quickly regained consciousness, and we were quickly in contact with him," Boesen added.
"Now he needs to be examined further in the hospital to find out what caused the incident.
"We are in constant contact with him and the doctors at the hospital. But Christian is doing well, and he asked me to greet all the players and say that he was OK."
Players from both teams stood in a circle in solidarity for Eriksen before applauding the support in the stands together on a joint lap of the stadium as Ukraine fans chanted Eriksen's name.
